THE LAKE AND THE VISTA THAT SURROUNDS ITS 1,900 MILES OF CANYON-WALLED SHORELINE HAS CHANGED A LOT SINCE I FIRST CRUISED THERE, BUT A TRIP UP THE LAKE IS STILL FILLED WITH WONDROUS SIGHTS ...
You've got that right, Dieter. I think because Lake Powell is effectively man-made (a natural dam reservoir), it's overlooked as the cruising gem it is. I hear water levels are down well below their past peak. But what people who have never been there don't understand is that, as the water level goes down, the dramatic nature of the 1,900 miles of canyon shoreline goes up. Cheers!
I'd been there in the early 90's and it was a unforgettable impression, especially in the mornings and at sundown.
